Travails of an Adjunct Political Science Professor seeking the end to part timers being treated as disposable diapers, the end to the 2/3's super majority in California, the end to stupid people in the news, the right of equality for all to marry, the end to prop 13, the adoption of universal health care in the US, peace, love and the everlasting good memory of Jerry.

538 vs. 330 Million.....hmmmmmm

i wonder, is there a reason that nobody reads my blog? could it be that there are a million other blogs out there and a million other pts of view to listen to? its funny out egocentric we humans are. i forgot about the ego last night or, perhaps rather celebrated it as I spoke with disdain about the top 1% of our us population who controls all of our policy decision with their money. a student asked me how we will convince the people who are going to be taxed already, by Obama's new policy: those making 250K a year or more mind you, to support the new deferred paying tax, to cover health care for every american. Well, i espoused my firm belief that health care is not a commodity but, a right and I would prefer to pay a tax than see my fellow man suffer in the gutter. Somewhere among the top 1-5 % of americans actually make 250 K or more a year. why is it that the 99% who don't are not speaking up! why are we not collectively outraged? why don't we demand that democracy be practiced in this nation! I am frustrated so, I share my concerns with others. I think that because they are concerns voiced by me, someone who is educated on the topic, that should matter. But, I don't have 250K in the bank and with a part time teaching gig, one class, this Fall...its doesn't look like i will anytime soon. The mythic American Dream doesn't exist for most of us. Just the 1%. The rest of us 99ers should get our act together. the 538 folks in the legislature should be scared of the 33o plus million of us who aren't. WHY AREN'T THEY?

  1. I'm reading your blog, so don't think nobody's reading! I would dearly love to take one of your classes. I bet you're a hoot (and a helluva good teacher to boot).

    :-)
